The owner is a really nice man and we were... read more treated warmly. We asked for a king room and it was spacious clean and comfortable. Pillows were not the best. There seems to be a new and older section. I believe we were in the newer section and it seemed very new. It was close to where we needed to be on short notice and we were more than pleased.

I knew going in that it was an older style hotel, the lobby was huge and had the feel of a museum, so many neat items from the past to see and the staff was super friendly and very efficient, check in/out was a breeze, they actually give you real keys!! The room was a very nice size, two double beds were clean and comfortable, decor was a bit dated but again this is an old style motel so that wasn't a surprise. There was a nice sized flat screen TV with plenty of channel choices, a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot and supplies in the room, toiletries were supplied as well as plenty of clean white towels. The bathroom and changing room had updated tub and sink with pretty faucets, plenty of hot water and the room was nice and clean. It's all one level so no elevators or stairs to climb and we parked right in front of the room (love that). I've stayed in much more expensive rooms that were really disappointing, this place was great for the price and location. Would stay here again if I need to be in the area.

  We enjoyed our stay. - We (my wife and I) found Shelby Inn via TripAdvisor while searching for places to stay on Sunday before the solar eclipse on Monday. Shelbyville was still several hours... read more from our ultimate destination, but we liked that Shelby Inn didn't gouge us by charging us more or requiring us to stay (or at least pay for) additional nights like every other hotel closer to the solar eclipse.
Shelby Inn is a revelation. We stayed in a king bed room in the two story building separate from the actual inn, with the lobby,
First impression, checking in, the friendliness of the man at the counter. Ample parking. Beautifully landscaped grounds.
We asked for a 2nd floor room (there's no elevator, in case you've got difficulty with stairs). Our room (#259, I think) was spacious and even had a back door balcony area that you could sit outside and watch cars and people from. Nice refrigerator (be sure to turn it on) and a great king size bed with very firm mattress (which I like). The bathroom was clean and very modern with Kohler fixtures and an amazing rain shower. No microwave. Lighting, with the darkish brown walls, seemed a little dim. The HVAC is a window unit, relatively quiet, but non-digital, so you just turn the knob for cooler or warmer. Which worked great, actually. It was about 93° outside when we arrived, and overnight the temperature dropped, but the HVAC kept our room at a good sleeping temperature.
Very quiet; we slept soundly and long.
Shelby Inn is a little backward; we used actual keys for our door lock, for example, and we actually did have to check out the next morning, although there was no wait. No USB chargers in the room (sometimes the TV has a USB port to charge your cell phone with). I like to leave a few $ tip for the housekeeper, but there was no stationery or pen in the room to let me write a note with.

This is a beautiful hotel, located right on the main highway (but you never hear traffic!). Rooms are a bit older, but clean, well lit and spacious... and quiet. I had no trouble sleeping.. no loud neighbors, etc. And the AC worked great.

We had made a online reservation for Shelbyville punched in the address to my gps and took off for a few days on the road, well everything was going just fine until we were about to check in and realized we were in the wrong Selbyville. ILLINOIS NOT INDIANA WE HAD great tour of Illinois farm land we didn't plan on but we had a fine time.
